CORRIGAN GOMMENGINGER ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR PIERCE COUNTY ASSESSOR-TREASURER
June 13, 2011
TACOMA, WA, June 13, 2011—Corrigan Gommenginger officially announced his intention today to run for the Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer position in 2012, a seat that is currently held by Dale Washam.
Gommenginger, who prefers to be called by his middle name Corrigan, is a long-time Washington resident who has been serving on boards of non-profit community organizations throughout the South Sound area for years. He believes the skills he has acquired during his years of leadership in the community will guide him as Pierce County’s next Assessor-Treasurer.
“With America’s economy lagging I felt that it was my time to step up and assist the residents of Pierce County. I want to champion tax relief to help keep our families in the homes they have worked so hard to buy,” Corrigan noted, referring to the county’s high foreclosure rates and large unemployment rolls.
As part of his campaign, Corrigan wants to be accessible to voters. He invites them to contact him by email, phone, or on his website and Facebook page.
“I grew up in a small town that underwent an economic downturn similar to what Pierce County is experiencing today,” said Corrigan. “My parents taught me to do more with less, and I have in turn passed that on to local non-profit community organizations that have thrived and prospered despite the recession.”
In addition to advocating tax relief for hard-working Pierce County families, Corrigan also wants to provide tax incentives for businesses to create living-wage jobs in Pierce County and envisions a more efficient Assessor-Treasurer’s office that can “do more with less.” As Corrigan says, “Isn’t it time that our local governments adopt a ‘do more with less’ policy in these tough economic times?”
Corrigan Gommenginger was born in Libby, Montana, and moved to Washington as a child. He studied accounting in college and has managed the finances for NARAL, Ruth Dykeman Children’s Center, Navos, BlueHead Publishing, and is currently the Director of Finance for a Tacoma non-profit community organization. By applying his “do more with less” attitude, Corrigan has helped businesses and non-profit community organizations in the South Sound area assist more families and hire more employees than ever before.
